Helen Verger Award – 2009 Ottawa Folk Festival

by Graham
August 28th, 2009

SBB’s very own Paul Mills was awarded the Helen Verger Award for lifetime achievement. Congratulations from us, and we’re so honoured and pleased to have been a part of the evening! We played 45 Years (a great song by Stan Rogers) and The Gypsy Set. Photos from onstage were taken on my phone, hence the haze on anything really bright, while other photos were taken by Bryn Burnell or me from the audience.

Mister McGuire sitting at the drum, with the typical McGuire smile.Self portrait. Don't give this guy a camera or you'll get all sorts of un-smiley stuff.Paul Mills himself, preparing to do the sound check (then immediately to the award and then playing!)SBB featuring Paul Mills on guitar, playing 45 Years. That's the look of "oh, you're using your... phooone? um, okay... we can do that." The wonderful Paul and awesome Bev read the program before the presentation Hold that award up high... some would say it's a good conductor.Joel Plaskett, who played after us, is a good musician too. :)
